On October 24, the Real Men Real Leaders boys traveled to Fort Hays State University for an experience that started well before kickoff. They played football with Tiger players, sat down with them to share a meal, and enjoyed time together before cheering on FHSU.

The photos capture what made the day memorable: boys reaching for passes, conversations over plates of food, and plenty of excitement in the stands. Behind those moments was a generous group of people who helped make this visit possible—and who have welcomed RMRL to FHSU football games for several years.

Making Memories Before Kickoff

One of the highlights happened before the game even started. The boys got to play football with some of the Tiger players, throwing passes and joining in the action together. They had a ton of fun, and the chance to play alongside college athletes made this much more than a trip to watch a game.

The boys also sat down to eat with the players, mingle, and get to know them. Sharing a meal gave everyone time to connect beyond the football field. Before the boys watched the Tigers take the field, they had already spent part of the day with the players they would be cheering for.

Our appreciation goes to head football coach Chris Brown and the Tiger players who made time for our boys. Their welcome helped make the visit personal and memorable.

A Team Behind the Team

Lon Pishny has been an important part of making these visits possible. When he reflected on this year’s trip, he was quick to share the credit, emphasizing that hosting the boys is a team effort.

That team includes his wife, Jan Pishny, who helps set up the tailgate, makes snacks, and serves food. This year’s tailgate teammates also included Travis and Jody Scoby and Chad and Tracy Dague. We are grateful to each of them, along with the others who have helped host our boys over the years.

Their time and hospitality are a reminder that meaningful experiences often begin with people willing to show up, pitch in, and make room for others.

A Warm Welcome from the Tiger Community

We also thank Fort Hays State University and Brad Haynes, assistant athletic director, for helping arrange transportation and the game experience.

This year, Kim Cebula of the FHSU Alumni Association also provided Tiger keepsakes for the boys to take home—a thoughtful way to help them remember the experience.

Tiger spirit was part of the day, too!

Once the game began, the fun continued in the stands. The boys cheered on the Tigers and enjoyed the energy of a college football game together.

Thank You for Making It Possible

At Real Men Real Leaders, we are grateful for the people who invest their time, energy, and resources in our boys. This trip reflects that generosity, from planning and transportation to food, fellowship, and a welcome on game day.

To Lon, Jan, Travis, Jody, Chad, Tracy, Brad, Coach Brown, the Tiger players, Kim, and everyone who helped: thank you for being part of this tradition and for making our boys part of your Tiger community.

It was more than a football game. It was a community showing up for our boys.
